Este projeto parte da história do Paço das Artes, em São Paulo, uma instituição cultural pioneira que, desde sua fundação, em 1969, nunca conseguiu estabelecer uma sede permanente. Em 2016, a instituição foi desalojada mais uma vez, sendo incorporada ao Museu da Imagem e do Som. De um complexo cultural transdisciplinar com mais de 1.000 m², foi reduzida a uma única sala expositiva de 80 m², o que limitou significativamente sua programação e enfraqueceu sua presença institucional.

 

Explorando a imagem e as narrativas desse “museu nômade”, constantemente à deriva em busca de um porto, o projeto reflete sobre sua condição residual por meio da combinação de textos, cartazes e maquetes. Um grande mural entrópico, realizado com giz diretamente sobre as paredes, apresenta ideias especulativas e caminhos potenciais para a instituição, ao mesmo tempo em que é atravessado por uma série de perguntas.

 

Dez cartazes registram visualmente palavras, frases e expressões que ecoam nas vozes da equipe da instituição, enquanto sete maquetes arquitetônicas propõem visões utópicas de museus que não existem: Aporia, Afasia, Inextricável, Imbróglio, Misantropo, Apócrifo e Sonâmbulo.

 

Ao assumir o esboço, a imprecisão e a dúvida como métodos, o projeto tensiona modelos institucionais tradicionais e abre espaço para imaginar outras possibilidades para o futuro das instituições públicas de arte.

This project draws inspiration from the history of Paço das Artes in São Paulo, a pioneering cultural institution that, since its founding in 1969, has never secured a permanent home. In 2016, the institution was displaced yet again, this time encapsulated within the Museum of Image and Sound. Once a transdisciplinary cultural complex spanning over 1,000m², it was reduced to a single 80m² exhibition room, significantly limiting its programming and weakening its presence.

 

Exploring the image and narratives of this “nomadic museum,” perpetually adrift in search of a port, the project reflects on its residual state through a combination of writings, posters, and models. A large entropic mural, created with chalk directly on the walls, offers speculative ideas and potential pathways for the institution while interspersed with probing questions.

 

Ten posters visually capture the words, phrases, and expressions echoing the voices of the institution’s team, while seven architectural models propose utopian visions of museums that do not exist: Aporia, Aphasia, Inextricable, Imbroglio, Misanthrope, Apocryphal, and Somnambulist.

 

By embracing sketches, imprecision, and doubt, the project challenges traditional institutional frameworks and opens up new possibilities for the future of public art institutions.
